MKB Care Association press release

Free Nursing Care Payments

The directors of MKB Care and members Khaled Gamiet and Aman Badiani had a very positive meeting with Bucks PCT on Monday 9th November 2009. Working with the PCT we were able to cover a number of areas of concern for providers. As a result of these discussions we can report the following developments to address recent problems in the payment of Free Nursing Care (FNC):

In order to clear the backlog of unpaid FNC invoices Bucks PCT agreed to make a payment run on Friday 13 November and another on Tuesday 17 November. MKB raised the issue that in some cases the PCT had ceased FNC payments for residents who had previously been paid FNC by Bucks County Council but of whom the PCT have no record. The PCT has stated that if this has happened to any of your residents then you should provide whatever evidence you have of an FNC assessment (i.e. either an FNC assessment letter or letter from Bucks County Council specifying that FNC should be deducted). If you cannot produce this evidence then the PCT will have to carry out a FNC assessment.

In order to speed up the process of completing FNC assessments for these residents, Bucks PCT have proposed to give free training to providers to complete the FNC assessments themselves. Please contact susie.bell@mkbcare.org  if you require this training. If you are able to offer a venue for up to 10 people for this training to be given, please let Susie know as this would be very helpful.

Depending on other venues in other parts of the county being offered, further free training will be made available. We are also working positively with the PCT to address issues such as GP retainers, admission and discharges from hospital, flu pandemic and continuing care contracts and PCT equipment.  We hope to provide an update in due course.

The Directors are delighted to announce a series of important developments which will strengthen the Association significantly as well as extend the range of services available to all adult social care providers throughout the MKOB sub-region. Click here to read the full press release.
